Description | Our efforts to organize a model railroad club in northeast Texas began in March of 2005. Three people attended our first meeting. In October of 2006 our membership peaked at fifteen. We are placing bulletins on "Community Calendar" spots aired by regional television stations and have announcements posted on bulletin boards within area libraries and businesses. We continue to promote our club in area model train shows at every opportunity. Our efforts in Texas focus on the Counties of Cass, Gregg, Harrison, Smith and Upshur. Our members model G, HO and N scales. We have a club layout in HO scale that is currently in storage while we repair and remodel a clubhouse. In the Spring of 2008 we will schedule work sessions to convert the club layout to a sectional type, so it can be transported easily. Individuals within our membership represent these organizations: The National Model Railroad Association, the National Railway Historical Society and one of our Board Members has been a registered Ambassador for the World's Greatest Hobby since this national promotion effort began. We encourage family participation and membership in our Club. Our common goal is to enjoy the World's Greatest Hobby: Model Railroading! |
